Soccer bracket generator
Soccer tournaments are two competitions in one: a group stage where draws are normal, then a knockout where somebody has to win on the night.
Editing is designed for desktop. On this screen you can view the bracket; open the tools below if you need to change something.
Everything stays editable: type your own team names, set scores and dates, then export the bracket as an image — a PNG in three sizes, no watermark.
The classic World Cup shape
Thirty-two teams into eight groups of four, the top two from each group advancing into a 16-team knockout. In this editor that is the groups-plus-knockout format with 32 teams: eight groups is the default group count at that size, and you can set the qualifiers per group to one or two.
The group draw uses snake seeding — seeds 1 to 8 go to groups A to H, then the next eight come back in reverse order — so the strongest teams are not quietly stacked into one group.
One limit worth knowing: we offer 2, 4 or 8 groups. The 48-team, twelve-group format is not available, so a field that size needs a different structure here.
Draws, and the shootout that follows
A drawn group match is a normal result and the table records it as one. A drawn knockout match is not: soccer settles it on penalties, and this tool lets you record the draw and then mark which team advances, instead of forcing a fake scoreline into the bracket.
That keeps the printed bracket honest — 1–1 (4–3 pens) is a result people expect to see, and it is what the bracket will show once you advance the winner by hand.
Leagues, and why there is no points column
For a league, choose round robin and switch the legs to double for home and away fixtures. Up to 16 teams, with a results matrix, a standings table and a full fixture list as CSV.
You will notice the standings table shows wins, draws, losses and goal difference but no points column. That is deliberate: points are 3-1-0 in most competitions, 2-1-0 in some, and we would rather not print the wrong rule on your league table. Convert from wins and draws in one line of your own spreadsheet.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I build a World Cup style group stage?
- Yes: 32 teams with groups plus knockout gives eight groups of four. Choose one or two qualifiers per group, and the knockout stage is drawn from the group standings.
- What happens to a drawn knockout match?
- Record the draw, then mark which team advances — perfect for a penalty shootout. The bracket never invents a winner from a drawn score.
- Does it calculate league points?
- No, deliberately. Scoring rules differ (3-1-0, 2-1-0, and so on), so the standings give wins, draws, losses and goal difference and let you apply your own rule.
